Huo Yuanjia

Born on 18th January 1868 and died on 9th August 1910, Huo Yuanjia was a Chinese martial artist who co-founded the Chin Woo Athletic Association, a martial arts school in Shanghai.
Huo Yuanjia is fondly remembered in martial arts circles in China because at a time when China was at risk of being eroded by colonisation, foreign concessions and spheres of influence, he famously defeated several foreign fighters in highly publicised matches.
His actions are now forever immortalised by Jet Li's portrayal of Huo Yuanjia in the film "Fearless".
Due to his heroic status, the legends and myths surrounding events in his life are difficult to discern from facts.
